ArabiaWeather - The number of deaths due to wildfires in the United States, which has been burning since mid-August, has risen to 28, after the American authorities announced three new deaths in one of the many large fires in the western United States.
Butte County Chief of Police, Corey Hunia, mentioned the new victims of the North Compound fire, which was the most advanced in recent days in California.
The fire burned 102,000 hectares and destroyed more than 2,000 buildings since its inception 24 days ago, and until now, firefighting teams have managed to contain it by only 22%.
And 350 kilometers northward, in neighboring Oregon, dozens of people are still missing.
The director of the state's emergency authority, Andrew Phelps, indicated that they are preparing for a "great ordeal" of losing many lives, a term used in the United States to refer to accidents that are estimated to have a large number of victims that cannot be confirmed at the present time.
Most of the fires broke out in mid-August due to an unusual thunderstorm in the region, and since then drought, strong winds and high temperatures have spread rapidly.
