5 Arab countries are investigating the crescent of the month of Ramadan today, Wednesday, unlike most Arab countries.. What is the reason?
Weather of Arabia - On Tuesday, most Arab countries announced the results of the investigation of the crescent of the blessed month of Ramadan for the year 1444/2023, while 5 Arab countries are investigating the crescent of the month of Ramadan today, Wednesday, so what is the reason for this disagreement over the date of the investigation of the crescent of the month of Ramadan?
The legal criterion for examining the crescent is the legal sighting, so the reason for the disagreement over the date of investigating the crescent of the month of Ramadan among the Arab countries goes back to the date on which the month of Sha`ban began in them, and the following are the details:
- The crescent of the month of Sha'ban was sighted on Monday, February 20, in all Arab countries.
- The crescent was not seen on the day of the investigation in: Jordan, the Sultanate of Oman, Morocco, Algeria, and Mauritania, while the rest of the countries announced that the sighting was confirmed.
- Accordingly, the beginning of the month of Sha'ban in 5 Arab countries was on Wednesday, corresponding to February 22, while the beginning of the month of Sha'ban in 17 Arab countries was on Tuesday, February 21.
- Thus, all countries are investigating the crescent of the month of Ramadan on the 29th of Sha’ban, which was thousand yesterday, Tuesday, in 17 Arab countries, while the 29th of Sha’ban, which corresponds today, Wednesday, in 5 Arab countries.
It should be noted that astronomers indicated that the crescent of the month of Sha’ban could not be seen on Monday (February 20) with the naked eye or the telescope because of its young age, its meager illumination, and its short stay above the horizon, but astronomically it was present, so we cannot consider that there was an error at the beginning of the month of Sha’ban in any of the States, where the concerned committees worked hard to make the decision, and God knows best.
