Al-Tarawneh: Warning of the spread of bird flu among humans

Arab Weather - Dr. Muhammad Hassan Al-Tarawneh, a chest disease consultant and respiratory infection expert, called for the need to take proactive measures to confront widespread epidemics, such as the bird flu virus, which is currently spreading in several countries around the world. His call came after the United States announced the first severe human infection with bird flu.

The importance of epidemic security and the need for preparedness

Dr. Al-Tarawneh stressed that epidemic security is no less important than food security, noting that the possibility of an epidemic occurring at any moment. He added that previous experience during the Corona pandemic showed that early preparation limits complications and helps control the situation.

The role of the Ministry of Agriculture and coordination with health

Dr. Al-Tarawneh explained that respiratory diseases, including bird flu, are usually transmitted from sick animals to humans. He stressed the importance of the role of the Ministry of Agriculture in dealing with these issues in coordination with the Ministry of Health and the National Center for Epidemic Control.

Mechanisms for dealing with the spread of diseases

Dr. Al-Tarawneh stressed the importance of taking immediate steps when diseases that spread quickly appear, such as:

1. Locating and containing the outbreak of a disease or epidemic.
2. Forming a joint team of ministries to work in an organized manner.
3. Similarity of symptoms between viral diseases

Dr. Al-Tarawneh pointed out that the symptoms of viral diseases are similar, such as coughing, sneezing, colds, high body temperature, and sore throat, which may raise concern among the Jordanian people due to the experience of the Corona pandemic.

The role of the National Center for Epidemic Control

Al-Tarawneh pointed out the importance of the role of the National Center for Epidemic Control, which was established by royal decree in 2021. He explained that the center was unable to achieve its effective role due to the multiplicity of health references, which disperses the efforts made.

Symptoms of bird flu

Dr. Al-Tarawneh stated that the symptoms of bird flu include:

1. High fever and sudden rise in temperature.
2. Sore and painful throat with difficulty swallowing.
3. Severe, persistent cough.
4. Pneumonia, difficulty breathing, and chest pain.
5. Nausea and vomiting.

Warning against direct contact with birds

Dr. Al-Tarawneh warned against direct contact with birds and mixing with them, stressing that this may be the main cause of bird flu. He also pointed out the importance of consulting a doctor immediately upon the appearance of the above symptoms to avoid complications.
