Al-Zaqaq: Al-Wasm is the best rainy season in the region
Arab Weather - Dr. Khaled Al-Zaaq, presenter of the "Taqwim" segment on Al Arabiya channel, explained that the "Al-Wasm" season is one of the best rainy seasons in the region, as many important weather phenomena occur during it, pointing out the types of clouds and their characteristics.
Types of clouds and their characteristics
Regarding clouds, Al-Zaqaq explained that there are three main types: high, medium, and low clouds. He pointed out that high clouds are generally not rainy, while medium clouds are not rainy when they are high, but they become rainy when they descend. As for low clouds, they are the clouds that bring rain.
Division of the "Wasm" season
Al-Zaqaq pointed out that the “Al-Wasm” season is divided into two parts: the first is the “arithmetical wasm”, which lasts for 52 days, and the second is the “real wasm”, which lasts for 92 days. He explained that the last twenty days of the “Suhail” season and the first twenty days of the “Al-Murb’aniyah” season are considered part of the wasm in terms of their impact.
Features of the "Wasm" rain
Al-Zaqaq added that the rains that fall during the season have distinctive features, as the clouds are slow-moving, which allows the rain to fall continuously and leads to the soil being saturated with water. He also pointed out that the actual reality of these rains exceeds expectations, which makes them more effective in irrigating the land.
