Riyadh Metro services officially launched.. Learn about the routes, ticket prices and booking method

Arab Weather - Today, Sunday, the services of the first phase of the giant " Riyadh Metro " project were officially launched, in a new step towards improving public transportation in the Kingdom. This project is an essential part of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, and aims to improve the quality of life and facilitate transportation in the capital through 6 new electric tracks.

Riyadh Metro Project Map 2024

The Riyadh Metro is one of the largest public transport projects in the world, with 6 main lines spanning 176 kilometers and 85 stations. Of these stations, 8 are major stations that represent intersection points between the lines. With an estimated cost of $22.5 billion, the project reflects the leadership’s commitment to providing an integrated infrastructure that supports sustainable development.

Riyadh Metro Tracks

1. The first line (Blue Line): extends over 38 km through 22 stations, and includes major stations such as Al Rabie Station and STC Station.
2. The second line (Red Line): extends over 25.3 km through 13 stations, starting from King Saud University.
3. The third line (orange line): extends over 40.7 km, starting from Jeddah Expressway and reaching the National Guard Camp.
4. Line 4 (Yellow Line): Extends 29.6 km and includes 9 stations, with operation starting today.
5. Line 5 (Green Line): It extends 12.9 km in an underground tunnel, and is scheduled to be operational on December 15, 2024.
6. Line 6 (Purple Line): 29.9 km long, with operation on December 15, 2024.

Riyadh Metro Ticket Prices

Tickets are purchased through the Darb app, with regular ticket prices starting at 4 riyals ($1.06) for a two-hour ticket, and going up to 140 riyals ($37.26) for a monthly ticket. First class tickets are also available, with prices ranging from 10 riyals ($2.66) for a two-hour ticket to 350 riyals ($93.16) for a monthly ticket.

Operating times

The Riyadh Metro will operate daily from 6 am to 12 midnight, providing great mobility flexibility for citizens and residents.

Ways to book tickets

Riyadh Metro tickets can be booked through several electronic methods, such as:

1. Trail card.
2. Riyadh Bus App.
3. NFC technology.
4. Mada card.
