Latest Updates | The weather system continues to affect the Sultanate of Oman, with rainfall extending to parts of the Emirates and southeastern Saudi Arabia
Arab Weather - The latest satellite images from the "Arab Weather" Center indicate that the cumulus clouds accompanying the tropical depression in the Arabian Sea continue to move westward towards the coasts of southern Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman.
The effects of the tropical condition will continue over the Sultanate of Oman during the rest of the night and Wednesday.
Weather experts at the Arab Weather Regional Center said that the latest outputs received from the so-called computer simulation indicate the continuation of the effects of the tropical weather system on the Sultanate of Oman tonight and Wednesday, as forecasts indicate that rain will fall in most Omani governorates during this. Rainfall is mainly concentrated in the Al Hajar Mountains and the surrounding areas, as well as the coastal areas overlooking the Arabian Sea, where the rain will be of varying intensity between medium and heavy, which may lead to the formation of torrents, valleys and waterfalls in the slopes and low-lying areas.
It is expected that the cumulative rainfall in some governorates will approach the 100 mm barrier, especially in the governorates of South and North Al Sharqiyah, Al Wusta and Muscat, while the remaining governorates that are expected to receive cumulative rainfall between 10 - 50 mm are expected to receive.
The impact of the weather system extends to neighboring countries
Weather data indicates that the effects of this weather system may not be limited to the Sultanate, but some rainfall may extend to the eastern part of the United Arab Emirates, especially its mountainous areas. It is also expected that parts of the southern part of the Eastern Region in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will be affected by rainy thunderstorm clouds that may be accompanied by active winds at times.
Continued warnings of flash floods in the Sultanate of Oman
It is worth noting that these weather conditions require warning of the formation of local floods in low-lying areas and valleys, especially in the Hajar Mountains and low-lying areas. Arab Weather advises citizens to take the necessary precautions and avoid approaching valleys during rainfall.
God knows best.
