The first comment from the `Geological Survey` regarding recording an earthquake in Jizan and revealing its details
Weather of Arabia - The spokesman for the Saudi Geological Survey, Tariq Aba Al-Khail, stated that the stations of the national seismic monitoring network in the Saudi Geological Survey recorded an earthquake this morning, Saturday, corresponding to 01/28/2023, at 05:27:54: 42 km southwest of Abu Arish with a seismic magnitude of 2.99 on the Richter scale and a depth of 6.59 km.
He attributed the cause of this earthquake as a result of the tensile forces in the southern Red Sea region, which is exposed to openness as a result of the divergence of the African tectonic plate from the Arabian plate, which caused the occurrence of reactivation of the cracks present in the earth's crust in the Arabian plate parallel to the Red Sea and perpendicular to it, causing seismic activity.
And that this earthquake is considered weak in terms of seismic magnitude and does not constitute any step, praise be to God.
