The last giant moon of 2024, the `Beaver Moon`, will grace the sky on this date
Arab Weather - On Thursday, November 14, the Earth will witness the moon reaching the perigee region in its orbit around the Earth, which is the point at which the distance between the moon and the Earth is at its closest. On this day, the distance between them is about 360,100 km, noting that the perigee region changes monthly, and the moon is considered giant only when the distance between it and the Earth is less than 360,000 km. The phenomenon of tides usually increases while the moon is at perigee.
November Full Moon "Beaver Moon" Date
On Friday, November 15, the Moon will be a full moon, reaching 100% brightness. The Moon will rise just after sunset and remain in the sky throughout the night, setting with the sunrise the next morning. Although the naked eye cannot fully distinguish a full Moon, the Moon will appear full from November 14 to 16.
Dark Moon and Beaver Moon
This full moon is called the "Beaver Moon" in many cultures, because Native American tribes would set beaver traps just before rivers froze, as beavers are aquatic rodents that live in water. It is also known as the "Freeze Moon" and the "Dark Moon."
The full moon is the best time to observe the lunar terrain, craters, and impact craters using binoculars and small telescopes.
