The death toll from the China earthquake has risen to 137
Arabia Weather - A rise in the death toll was recorded as a result of the earthquake that struck northwest China last Monday, as the total number of deaths reached 137 people.
Chinese authorities announced on Wednesday that 115 bodies had been found in Gansu Province, while 784 others were injured, and no disappearances have been reported in Gansu so far.
While the death toll in Qinghai increased to 22 people, with 198 others infected and 12 missing by the end of Wednesday. The earthquake caused thousands of homes to crack and collapse, causing severe damage to more than 145,000 people.
Local media reports indicate that individuals stranded under the rubble may face the risk of rapidly losing body heat, as they find themselves trapped for long periods in harsh weather conditions, with temperatures dropping to minus ten degrees Celsius.
