Global investments in wind energy amounted to about $30 billion in 2015

ArabiaWeather.com - The European Wind Energy Association confirmed that 2015 witnessed a rise in investment in the wind energy sector, with a value of $29.48 billion, an increase of 40% over 2014.

The Association stated that Germany topped the European countries that invested in wind energy , as it contains many new facilities, while its wind power reached about 45 gigawatts at the end of 2015.

She added that Poland increased its investments in alternative energy , by building the largest wind energy facility in Europe after Germany in 2015, as the power capacity reached approximately 1.3 gigawatts, according to the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation.

The Association stressed that the European Union aims to provide 27% of its energy needs through renewable energy sources by 2030, but that European institutions and members need to work together with the aim of developing ambitious and targeted legislation.

It is noteworthy that investment in the field of wind energy has become the focus of attention of European countries, as Britain announced earlier its intention to establish the largest wind farm in the world, with a wind capacity of 1.2 gigawatts. It will be built off the north coast of England.
