The discovery of another pharaonic sarcophagus in a cemetery south of Cairo
ArabiaWeather.com- The French mission, in cooperation with the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities, uncovered a wooden sarcophagus in Saqqara, south of Cairo, during the cleaning and filling work of the tomb of Maya, the nurse of Tutankhamun, who was a princess and daughter of Akhenaten and Nefertiti.
According to the head of the Egyptian Antiquities Department, Ali Al-Asfar, the find consists of three overlapping coffins bearing wonderful decorations and inscriptions. The middle and inner coffins are in good condition. He also expected that the inner coffin, which has not yet been opened, contains the mummy of the aforementioned princess.
Some funerary tools, decorative tools, and a cylindrical eyeliner were found inside the second coffin.
It is worth noting that Tutankhamun belongs to the era of the New Kingdom 1567-1085 BC
