Giant planet discovered outside the solar system, four times larger than Jupiter
Arab Weather - International astronomers have discovered a giant planet located about 1,430 light-years from Earth, and is characterized by its large size, which is four times larger than Jupiter. The planet was named "NGTS-33b" , and it is located outside the solar system.
Details of the planet "NGTS-33b"
The planet "NGTS-33b" orbits a star called "NGTS-33" in a complete orbit every 2.82 days. The radius of this planet is about 1.64 times the radius of Jupiter, while its mass is 3.63 times the mass of Jupiter.
The planet "NGTS-33b" has an unusually low density of 0.19 grams per cubic centimeter, which makes it unique in this aspect. Scientists also noted that its radius has increased by 15 percent, which is of interest to researchers.
The discovery of NGTS-33b is a significant step forward in the study of exoplanets, as only 11 large planets are currently known to orbit hot stars, making this planet a unique target for study.
The star around which the planet "NGTS-33" orbits belongs to the "A9V" class of stars, and is considered larger than the Sun with a mass 60% greater than the Sun's mass, and its radius is equal to 1.47 times the radius of the Sun. The age of this star is estimated to be between 10 and 50 million years.
