The University of Al-Qarawiyyin in the Moroccan city of Fez is the first university in history, as it was built by the pious woman Fatima Al-Fihri in 841 AD after inheriting a lot from her wealthy father, so she decided to spend all of her inheritance on building a mosque and a university suitable for the community of Fez, and she began fasting from the start of construction until It was completed, and she herself supervised its construction. The Al-Qarawiyyin Mosque quickly developed and gradually expanded in the subjects covered by its students, especially the subjects of natural sciences, thus gaining fame as the first university in history.
