Arab Weather - In the coming days, some parts of the world will witness a partial lunar eclipse coinciding with the appearance of the "supermoon." According to the Associated Press, this phenomenon will be seen in North and South America on Tuesday night, while it will be seen in Africa, Asia, Europe and Australia on Wednesday morning.

Partial lunar eclipse details

A partial eclipse occurs when the Earth passes between the Sun and the Moon, causing its shadow to be cast on part of the Moon, making it appear as if part of it has been cut off.

• The appearance of the giant moon

At the same time, the moon will be closer to Earth than usual, making it appear slightly larger in the sky as a “supermoon.” This phenomenon occurs three times a year, and this is expected to be one of those times.

Astronomer Valerie Rapson of New York University told the Associated Press that the moon will appear less bright because some of the sun's light is blocked.
According to NASA, alignments of the Earth, Moon and Sun that result in a lunar or solar eclipse occur between four and seven times a year. This is the second and final lunar eclipse of the year after a minor eclipse in March.

It is worth noting that last April, a total solar eclipse occurred, darkening many cities in North America.
