Jordan | 14 people suffer from shortness of breath due to heaters in two separate incidents within 24 hours
Arab Weather - Civil Defense Media Officer, Captain Abdullah Al-Saudi, said that first aid was provided to 14 people who suffered from shortness of breath due to improper ventilation of the place where a heater was used and a gas leak from one of the heaters, in addition to inhaling fumes from a wood-burning stove used inside the house in separate incidents within 24 hours in the governorates of Amman and Karak.
During his interview with the Public Security Radio, Al-Saudi reviewed the efforts made during the past hours, which included dealing with 1,314 emergency cases for people at their locations, securing their arrival to hospitals, responding immediately to 102 rescue incidents, and controlling 101 fires.

- Make sure you always have a handy fire extinguisher inside your home.
- Keep flammable items, such as clothing, blankets, and curtains, away from heaters.
- Do not leave heaters on while sleeping or when leaving the house.
- Do not use the heater to dry clothes, cook, or boil water.
- Make sure flammable products are out of reach of children and tightly closed.
- Place heaters away from entrances and hallways.
- Keep your house ventilated regularly.
- Unplug heaters, phone chargers, and electrical outlets from electrical sockets at night.
What should I do if there is a gas leak in the house?
- Call Civil Defense at 911.
- Turn off the gas cylinder or heater valve immediately.
- Open all doors and windows.
- Make sure the house is vacated, and help children, the elderly, and the disabled.
- Avoid lighting cigarettes or any type of lighting.
- Avoid spilling water on the floor.
