Jordan | The number of deaths among Jordanian pilgrims increased to 99 pilgrims
Weather of Arabia - In continuation of the efforts made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs to follow up on the conditions of Jordanian pilgrims, the Directorate of Operations and Consular Affairs in the Ministry announced that the number of deaths of Jordanian pilgrims had risen to 99 pilgrims, with 21 others lying in hospitals in Mecca, including 16 in critical condition.
The Director of the Directorate of Operations and Consular Affairs, Ambassador Dr. Sufyan Al-Qudah, said that burial permits were issued to 99 pilgrims to be buried in Mecca based on the wishes of their families. Coordination is also being made to transfer the 16 injured pilgrims to receive treatment in the Kingdom, as soon as their health condition allows it. He added that the Jordanian Consulate General team in Jeddah, currently in Mecca, visited all the patients and checked on their health.
Ambassador Al-Qudah explained that the relevant Saudi authorities carried out the procedures for burying the pilgrims, including washing the bodies, shrouding them, praying over them, and burying them. The Saudi authorities also issued 81 death certificates to Jordanian pilgrims, and work is underway to issue death certificates for the remaining deceased.
Ambassador Al-Qudah indicated that 97 Jordanian pilgrims were found out of 112 registered as missing on the lists of Jordanian pilgrims, according to the database prepared by the Directorate since the beginning of reporting the loss and death of a number of Jordanian pilgrims.
Ambassador Al-Qudah confirmed that the Directorate of Operations and Consular Affairs and the Jordanian Consulate General team in Mecca are in constant contact with the families of the deceased and missing pilgrims. The consular team also continues to provide consular services to the pilgrims who were found and follow up on their health conditions with the competent Saudi authorities, as 67 emergency travel documents and 16 consular certificates were issued to holders of temporary passports.

Ambassador Al-Qudah also explained that search operations are still ongoing for one pilgrim who is still missing, with joint efforts from the cell formed by the ministry, which works around the clock in coordination with the Jordanian Consulate General in Jeddah, the Jordanian Embassy in Riyadh, and the Jordanian Hajj mission of the Ministry of Endowments, Affairs and Islamic Holy Places. And the competent Saudi authorities.
Ambassador Al-Qudah expressed his sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the pilgrims, praying to God to cover them with His vast mercy and great forgiveness.
Ambassador Al-Qudah renewed his thanks to the competent Saudi authorities for the assistance they provided to the Jordanian Consulate General team in Mecca, including providing the necessary medical care, helping to identify the bodies, and facilitating burial procedures.
