Jordan | Important recommendations regarding the weather conditions on Friday.. Wind gusts approaching 100 km/h.. For these reasons, we do not recommend swimming in the Dead Sea (details)
Arab Weather - The latest weather map forecasts in "Arab Weather" indicate that the Kingdom will continue to be affected tonight and over the weekend by a cold wave resulting from the extension of a cold air mass located to the east of the region and affecting the Kingdom in the form of a cold and dry air mass.
Weather forecasters at Arabia Weather said that the Kingdom witnessed unusually low temperatures during the past few days, as the minimum temperature in the capital Amman at dawn on Thursday was the lowest in 21 years, reaching 8.4 degrees at the Amman Civil Airport station in the Marka area east of the capital Amman.
The latest numerical model outputs indicate that the Kingdom will remain under the influence of the cold air mass on Friday, so the weather will remain cold during the daytime hours and generally dry, with an expected ineffective extension of the Red Sea depression towards the region, pushing active easterly winds during the daytime hours in general.
Significant activity of eastern winds, approaching 100 km/h in the Jordan Valley and Dead Sea regions
According to the latest weather maps, especially those developed within Arab Weather, these maps monitor a remarkable activity in the speed of the eastern winds, which may exceed 100 km/h in the Shafaghour areas, the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea regions. Given the low altitude of these areas, it is expected that the eastern winds will descend strongly upon crossing the western mountains of the Kingdom, to increase in strength when descending from the mountainous heights towards the Jordan Valley, which may pose a danger to those who visit these areas during the day on Friday.
We also note at the Arab Weather Center the possibility of low horizontal visibility during the daytime hours of Friday due to active easterly winds, especially in desert areas.
Recommendations:
- Avoid swimming in the Dead Sea.
- Attention to dust in the atmosphere for patients with respiratory and eye diseases
- Be careful while driving on desert roads due to dust.
- Beware of strong winds, especially in the areas of Shfa Ghor, the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea. It is recommended to install greenhouses.
