Jordan | Ministry of Water: The last depression brought 10 million cubic meters of water to the dams
<p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr">Arab Weather - The spokesman for the Ministry of Water and Irrigation, Omar Salama, said that the quantities of water that entered the dams during the past 24 hours are about 5 million cubic meters.<br /><br /> Salameh added to "Roya" that the total of what the recent air depression that affected Jordan brought to the dams amounted to 10 million cubic meters of water, while the percentage of rainfall in 2022 increased to 53% compared to 34% for the same period in 2021.<br /><br /> Salama indicated that the water storage capacity in most dams did not reach 50%, and that some dams recorded only 20%, indicating that dams need additional amounts of precipitation to enhance their storage.<br /><br /> He pointed out that the average rainfall in Salt reached 75%, in Irbid 65% and Amman between 65-70%, and that Jordan needs 3 million cubic meters per day, pinning hope in God to strengthen the dams stores with water.<br /><br /> "We are waiting for all the snow to melt in all regions of the Kingdom, which will reflect the improvement of dam reserves and the water reality," he says.<br /><br /> In addition, the Director of the Meteorological Department, Engineer Raed Al Khattab, expected Jordan to be affected by four depressions next month, according to the quarterly analyzes.<br /><br /> Al-Khattab said yesterday, Friday, that the depressions expected to affect the Kingdom will bring more rain, and therefore the rainy season will improve<br /><br /> Al-Khattab added that February is one of the months that is characterized by depressions that may lead to snow, according to climatic records<br /><br /> And Al-Khattab indicated that the Winter Pentecost will enter the Kingdom starting from the 31st of January, and it will last 50 days<br /><br /> In a related context, the Director of Operations at the Arab Weather Forecast website, Osama Al-Tarifi, said that today, Friday, the north and central regions will witness rainfall at several intervals, but it will not extend to the south.<br /><br /> Al-Tarifi added to Roya, yesterday, Friday, that snow showers and heavy rain are expected in the northern and central highlands, indicating a gradual decrease in the severity of the depression tonight and Saturday morning, and the atmosphere tends to be stable.<br /><br /> Al-Tarifi explained that despite the high temperatures on Saturday and Sunday, it remains cold, but not as cold as the previous two days.<br /><br /> Regarding the Kingdom’s impact on a snowy depression next month, Al-Tarifi stated that the air system that has dominated the globe for 3 weeks is expected to last 10-14 days, and form air depressions, so that cold air masses will continue to flow towards Jordan.<br /><br /> Al-Tarifi stressed that not every cold polar mass reaches Jordan, its results will be as it happened from snowfall on Wednesday and Thursday, saying: "It is not possible to judge a long time ago."<br /><br /> And he indicated that temperatures will not reach zero degrees Celsius, and frost and freezing will not form, except for some areas and high peaks.</p>
