Jordan | Ministry of Water expects to start implementing the national carrier project in mid-2025
Arab Weather - Secretary General of the Ministry of Water, Jihad Al-Mahamid, said on Wednesday that the ministry has recently introduced rainmaking technology; and will conduct rainmaking and testing in several areas in the coming years to approve it if it has a positive economic impact.
He added in his statement to the media that the national carrier project is in the negotiation stage with the bidder and we expect to start implementing it in the middle of next year.
It is noteworthy that the Sixth Arab Water Conference was launched under the slogan "Governance towards achieving sustainable development in water" on Wednesday at the Dead Sea, with the aim of exchanging experiences and innovations in the field of water management.
The conference discusses the most prominent issues and challenges related to water in the region, and also reviews modern solutions and technologies to achieve sustainable water resources, with the participation of Arab water ministers, representatives of ministries in some countries, and decision-makers and specialists from various Arab and international countries.
Minister of Water and Irrigation Raed Abu Al-Saud also confirmed during the conference that Jordan is accelerating the pace to complete a national strategic project to desalinate Red Sea water (the National Carrier Project), with the aim of securing water needs, raising the efficiency of irrigation water use, and enhancing water awareness at various levels.
The National Water Carrier is the largest project included by the government in its economic priorities program 2021-2023, with the aim of providing nearly 300 million cubic meters annually to meet the basic drinking water needs of the capital and the targeted governorates.
