Snow causes two runways to be closed at Manchester Airport today
Weather of Arabia - Today, British Manchester Airport confirmed the temporary closure of two runways due to heavy snowfall, saying that "due to heavy snowfall, we have closed both runways temporarily ... Health and safety will remain our top priority, and operations will resume as soon as possible." .
A statement from Manchester Airport said on Twitter: "Due to heavy snowfall, we have temporarily closed both runways. Health and safety will remain our top priority, and operations will resume as soon as possible."
Later, the airport announced in a tweet that flights had resumed on one of the two runways that were closed.
Passengers have been advised to contact their flight carriers for the latest flight information, with dozens of flights affected.
Come on Manchester Airport you're clearly mugging us off now. It's not snowed for the past hour, it's melting and there's less than 1cm. We've been sat on this flight since 7:20am now and literally nothing is happening @manairport @easyJet pic.twitter.com/PQ2k7MYDPH

Dozens of flights were also canceled from Dublin Airport, including at least 23 departures and 27 arriving flights, on Saturday. While 69 departures and 74 arriving flights were canceled on Friday evening.
Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) said "de-icing of aircraft caused the delay".
And the “Sky News” network stated, “It can be expected that the disturbance caused by the winter weather will continue for at least another week … and it will bring to the cold weather a mixture of winter hazards, including frost, ice, snow and fog.”
This comes at a time when the Met Office warned that "freezing fog, sleet and snow may cause disruption to travel to parts of the United Kingdom in the coming days."
The southeast of England was covered by a "yellow warning" of snow and ice, starting at 9 am on Sunday for most of London and continuing until 9 am on Monday. There is a 30 percent chance of snowfall of up to 5 centimeters.
The west coast of England and Wales and northern Northern Ireland received ice warnings on Saturday and Sunday.
It's still melting. Still nothing is happening. 3.5 hours in and still not moved. Nice one Manchester Airport so happy I got up at 3am for this pic.twitter.com/RjtNwYNf1j

In Scotland, far to the southwest, a "yellow warning" for snow and ice was also issued, on Saturday and Sunday as well.
Winter rains will bring "a risk of ice and snow mainly over higher ground" across parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and the west of England. As the evening goes on, "the snowfall will reach lower levels as the temperature drops."
Concerns have been raised in particular about elderly people living alone, sleeping rough, and asylum seekers living in tents.
