“Al-Zaaq”: The sun will be facing the Qibla globally at the time of the noon call to prayer today
Weather of Arabia - Meteorologist Dr. Khaled Saleh Al-Zaaq explained that the sun makes a regular annual journey similar to the movement of a pendulum, during which it moves between the south and the north and vice versa.
He pointed out that there are transit and arrival stations on its route, and Al-Zaaq explained that the transit stations include the equator, which the sun crosses twice a year, while the arrival stations include the Tropics of Capricorn and Cancer, where the sun is perpendicular to all the places between them.
In a video he posted on his “X” account, Al-Zaaq explained that the sun has now crossed the equator and is heading towards the Tropic of Cancer. He pointed out that the Holy Kaaba is located between these two orbits, which makes the sun pass over it twice a year, the first on May 28 and the second on July 16.

The passage of the sun over the Kaaba
He added that scholars of the Islamic world take advantage of the sun’s passage over the Holy Kaaba to determine the direction of the Qiblah all over the world, so that whoever sees the sun on these two dates at the time of the noon call to prayer in Mecca will be facing the Qiblah.
He also added that the sun will be facing the Qibla globally at 12:18 pm , which is the time of the noon call to prayer in the Haram today.
Al-Zaaq concluded by emphasizing that prayer is accepted only if it is facing the Qiblah, which can be determined during the day by the sun, and at night by the shadow and stars.
