ArabiaWeather.com- King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy intends to provide 3,450 megawatts of electrical energy in the Kingdom, using various renewable energy sources, such as wind energy, solar photovoltaic energy, solar thermal energy, and waste conversion.
This step comes within the framework of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ renewable energy initiative approved in the National Transformation Program 2020, which will provide 7,000 jobs for citizens, in addition to saving 18 million barrels of fuel equivalent.
The initiative of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for renewable energy is divided into two parts. The first will produce 2,300 megawatts of renewable energy in the national energy mix to include all regions of the Kingdom, including the replacement of diesel stations.
As for the second section, it aims to introduce 1,150 megawatts of renewable energy into the national energy mix, such as the King Salman bin Abdulaziz Green Energy Initiative in the Medina region, according to Al-Hayat newspaper.
King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy has prepared a number of detailed practical studies to enable the establishment of a renewable energy market in the Kingdom in accordance with the highest standards of transparency and competitiveness, and in harmony with the variables of the electric power industry and local water desalination and the application of international best practices to reduce dependence on the state budget, and reliance on the private sector.
