Saudi Arabia | The National Center of Meteorology reviews its regional initiatives on the sidelines of the Sharm El-Sheikh Climate Conference
Arab Weather - As part of the activities of the Climate Conference 2022 , the National Center of Meteorology reviewed during the exhibition "Green Saudi Initiative", which was launched yesterday, on the sidelines of the Climate Conference "CUP27", held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, the work it has undertaken in the face of climate change.
Speaking at the 2022 Climate Conference , the Center indicated that it had established the Regional Center for Climate Change and the Regional Program for Rain Enhancement, in addition to the establishment of the Regional Center for Early Warning of Sand Storms, and also launched a system for monitoring dust and sand phenomena at the local and regional levels.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, the most important initiatives on which the Kingdom has relied in the face of climate change and its negative effects is the launch in March 2021 by His Highness the Crown Prince of the “Green Saudi Arabia” and “Green Middle East” initiatives, which emphasize the Kingdom’s commitment to international sustainability efforts, and raise its capabilities to protect Planet Earth by setting clear milestones that work to achieve global goals and contribute effectively to combating climate change and reaching zero neutrality in the year 2060.
It will contribute to improving the quality of life and reducing carbon emissions by 278 million tons by 2030; In addition to launching a first package of more than 60 projects and initiatives whose investments amount to more than 700 billion riyals to contribute to the development of the green economy, reduce its dependence on oil and transform its economy into an environmentally friendly one.
