Saudi Arabia | After AlUla and NEOM, Khulais opens its arms to Extreme E24 for electric cars
Weather of Arabia - The current edition of the “Extreme E” global series for electric SUVs 2024, which is hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the fourth time in a row, was launched today, Saturday, from the Khulais Governorate in the Makkah Region, and continues for two days, with the participation of eight international teams with a total of (16) contestants. It was organized by the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation and supervised by the Ministry of Sports.
Al-Ula had hosted the first edition of the tournament in the Kingdom in 2021 AD, then NEOM hosted the distinguished sporting event in two successive editions, the second in 2022 AD, and the third in 2023 AD, before the event landed this time in Jeddah for the first time.
The “Extreme E” series is a new and innovative form of electric SUV racing, as it highlights the impact of climate change on the environment, and promotes the use of environmentally friendly technologies in the field of sustainability, in addition to supporting the shift towards the use of electric vehicles, with the aim of contributing to reducing carbon emissions and achieving A better, more sustainable future for the Earth.
Extreme E 2024
The current edition of the “Extreme E” series for electric SUVs 2024 was launched, which is hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the fourth time in a row, with the participation of eight teams riding the “Odyssey 21” car.
The participating teams are diverse, as the defending champion of the last edition (Rosberg (Velosi Racing), (New McLaren Extreme E), (Acciona Sainz XE), (Andretti Agencies Extreme E), and (Legacy Motor Club).
Prince Khalid bin Sultan Al Abdullah Al Faisal, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation and the Saudi Motor Sports Company, expressed his happiness at holding this prominent sporting event in the Kingdom, stressing the support of the high leadership for the sports sector and the major role of the Minister of Sports in this. He stressed that the Kingdom hosts international sporting events as part of its ongoing efforts to confront the challenges of climate change and its commitment to achieving Vision 2030 in the field of sustainability and clean energy.
