Saudi Arabia | Siberian high pressure system reaches Riyadh, temperatures drop to 10°C at night over the weekend
Arab Weather - The latest weather forecasts, based on computer models, indicate that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will be gradually affected in the coming days by the extension of what is known as the Siberian high, starting from the northern regions and reaching the central region, including the capital, Riyadh, at the end of the week.
The effect of the cold air mass on the northern regions
The effect of the cold air mass is expected to increase on Monday and Tuesday in the northern regions of the Kingdom (the northern borders), and its effect will extend on Wednesday to include the regions of Al-Jawf, Hail, Al-Qassim and Hafar Al-Batin, leading to a significant drop in temperatures.
The cold wave will deepen at the end of the week and include most regions of the Kingdom
On Thursday and Friday, the cold wave will deepen to include most regions of the Kingdom, except for the western regions, where temperatures will drop by 9-11 degrees Celsius below their normal rates in Riyadh and the Eastern Region. Colder than usual weather will prevail in these regions, and may turn very cold at night and early morning hours, with the possibility of frost forming in large parts of the north and north-central parts of the Kingdom, where minimum temperatures will approach zero degrees Celsius.
Western regions affected by warm winds
As for the western regions, especially the coastal parts, it is expected that they will remain away from the influence of the cold wave, as they will be affected by warm easterly winds that will lead to a rise in temperatures on the coastal strip, with strong winds that may stir up dust and dirt and lead to a decrease in horizontal visibility.
God knows best.
