Saudi Arabia | Delaying the Maghrib call to prayer by 3 minutes in several regions...for this reason
Weather of Arabia - The Ministry of Islamic Affairs in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced that the Maghrib call to prayer will be delayed in a number of high-altitude regions in the Kingdom, during the blessed month of Ramadan, due to the late sunset.
According to Saudi media, the branch of the Ministry of Saudi Islamic Affairs in Al-Baha region directed all mosque administrations in Al-Baha, Baljurashi, Al-Mandaq, Al-Qura and Bani Hassan, to direct the muezzins of the high sites, to delay the Maghrib call to prayer by about 3 minutes, until the sunset is certain.
The directive of the Ministry branch comes after it was noticed that the sunset in the high places was later than the time of the call to prayer specified in the calendar, and this was proven after several committees of trustworthy persons to investigate the accuracy and document what is related to this.
Last year, the Fatwa Commission of the Scientific Research and Ifta Branch in the region recommended delaying the time for the Maghrib call to prayer in Al-Baha by adding 3 minutes to the specified time after observing the call to prayer before sunset.
The recommendation came after it was observed that the call to prayer coincided between the plain and mountainous regions, as the villages of the plain raise the call to prayer early due to sunset, while the villages on the top of the mountains have a late sunset due to their height from the plain, and yet they coincide with the villages of the plain in Azan time.
