Arab Weather - Sinan Khalaf - We monitor the “Arab Regional Weather Center” around the clock, the possibility that large parts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will be affected by severe disturbances, rare in their timing and in the breadth of their impact and length of time, during the last days of July and the beginning of August .
The ITCZ orbital separator is shifted to the north
An expected heavy flow of tropical humidity towards Saudi Arabia, and severe weather disturbances expected
This turbulence comes as a result of the concentration of the tropical high to the north of the Arabian Peninsula, which will allow the “ITCZ” tropical separator to shift more to the north, and thus the rush of large amounts of tropical moisture coming from the Arabian Sea and the Horn of Africa towards the entire southern parts of the peninsula Al-Arabiya, which leads to the emergence of severe weather disturbances and a strong state of atmospheric instability, as a result of which cumulus tropical thunderstorms are formed accompanied by heavy thunderstorms.
The most powerful, comprehensive and most influential this summer
Heavy thunderstorms accompanied by showers of hail and high chances of torrential rain in 10 regions
Perhaps the most prominent areas that will be under the direct effects of the rainy situation as of July 30 are the southwestern and western highlands of the Kingdom. Expectations indicate the formation of strong tropical clouds in Jazan, Asir , Al Baha and Taif , in addition to the regions of Makkah and Madinah . Expectations indicate that these areas will be subject to high rainfall on a daily basis, accompanied by heavy hail showers at times, with a high chance of torrential rains, especially in low-lying areas and mountain slopes.
It is also expected that weather fluctuations and chances of rain will include Najran , the Empty Quarter desert, parts of the Riyadh region, and an extension to Qassim and possibly Hail.
This type of cumulus thunderstorm clouds at this time of the year is often accompanied by the formation of descending air currents, which create dust waves and possibly local sand storms in the affected areas, causing a noticeable decrease in the horizontal visibility and sometimes its absence.
Arab Weather notes, however, that it is not possible to finalize the details of the expected weather situation during the last days of July, due to the relatively long period and the wide margin of error from now on, and Arab Weather will issue reports and forecasts according to the latest developments.
