Arab Weather - The stations of the National Seismic Monitoring Network at the National Center of Earthquakes and Volcanoes of the Saudi Geological Survey today, Wednesday, recorded an earthquake measuring 3.1 on the Richter scale and 2.5 kilometers deep, 10 kilometers south of Khamis Mushait in the Asir region.
The authority’s spokesman, Tariq Aba Al-Khail, told the newspaper “Sabb”: The cause of this earthquake is due to the stress resulting from the tensile strength due to the expansion of the Red Sea floor from the western direction This causes the faults to reactivate in that area, whether they are parallel or perpendicular to the Red Sea.
He added: This earthquake is considered weak on the Richter scale, and no damages have been recorded so far.
