Chinese authorities issue the third highest level of rainstorm warning

The provincial flood control office confirmed that four people were killed in "geological disasters" and two others drowned on Thursday, state broadcaster CCTV reported. Xinhua also reported that one person died as a result of a house collapse and that at least three others were trapped in a landslide.
About 7,000 people were affected by torrential rains, and 170 of them were ordered to evacuate, according to the same source. More than 254 mm of rain was recorded in some parts of the province, the highest level recorded since data records began.
This summer, China is facing harsh weather conditions, witnessing heavy rains in its eastern and southern regions, in addition to frequent heat waves in most parts of the north.
