China issues yellow alert for snowstorms, cold wave
Arab Weather - China issued a yellow alert today for snowstorms, with storms expected to affect parts of the northeastern part of the country.
Snowstorm-affected areas in China
China's National Meteorological Center said snowstorms will hit parts of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region as well as Heilongjiang, Jilin and Liaoning provinces. The storms are expected to continue from today until tomorrow morning, with parts of Liaoning expected to see 20-25mm of snowfall.
Heavy rain in some areas
The center also indicated that heavy rains are expected to fall in some areas of Guizhou, Hunan, Hubei and Anhui provinces, where the rainfall is expected to reach 280 mm within the next 24 hours.
In a related context, the center renewed the issuance of the yellow alert to confront a new cold wave, as most areas of central and northern China are expected to witness a drop in temperatures ranging between 6 and 10 degrees Celsius over the next four days. The center called for taking the necessary precautions for roads, railways, electricity and communications.
China weather warning system
It is worth noting that China has a four-level weather warning system: red represents the most severe level, followed by orange, then yellow, and finally blue.
