The observatory stated: “The season consisting of the months of June, July, and August 2023,” parallel to the summer in the northern hemisphere, “was by far the hottest ever recorded in the world, with a global average temperature of 16.77 degrees Celsius.”

The observatory confirmed that July 2023 was the hottest month of the year ever, followed by August of the same year.

Commenting on these evidences and reports, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said: "The climate collapse has begun," reiterating the warning to the countries of the world about the repercussions of continuing to use fossil fuels and its significant impact on accelerating the pace of climate change worldwide and reaching levels that may get out of control.
