African Continent | In a rare weather event.. Monitoring the formation of a tropical storm in West Africa, but this time on land!
Arab Weather - Arab Weather forecasters are monitoring the latest developments in tropical activity on the African continent and the rare expansion of the ITCZ tropical break this season on the African continent. While Sudan is experiencing unprecedented floods, Arab Weather forecasters are monitoring the possibility of a tropical storm forming, but this time on land in West African countries, and the possibility of it affecting North African and Maghreb countries later at the end of this week and the beginning of next week.
A tropical storm may form on land in West African countries on a rare occasion.
The latest weather maps outputs in "Arab Weather" indicate the possibility of a tropical storm developing later this weekend, affecting the West African countries of Niger and Mali, as it is rare for a tropical storm to form on land in the best of circumstances due to high pressure on land and low humidity levels.
Experts at the Arab Weather Center say that weather conditions require monitoring the weather maps’ outputs first-hand during the coming days, as it is indeed likely that the tropical storm will develop due to the tropical break advancing further north, and its continued pumping of tropical moisture towards the regions of West Africa, which increases weather disturbances in those regions and the rising currents that feed the layers of the atmosphere with the moisture needed to reduce pressure in a way that allows the tropical condition to develop into the name of a tropical storm later.
The tropical condition is expected to extend to the countries of North Africa and the Maghreb
The same forecasts indicate the possibility of the tropical condition extending to the Maghreb countries, especially Morocco and Algeria, at the beginning of next week, with the tropical storm continuing to move unusually over land due to the continued flow of tropical moisture and the northern jet stream moving away from the region, in addition to the formation of low air pressure near Mauritania, which will push more moisture towards the North African countries.
It is worth noting that these weather updates are considered preliminary due to the long time period and the scarcity of the expected weather system, so we will provide you with the most important weather developments as soon as they are issued.
