Arab Weather - The besieged Gaza Strip was exposed during the hours of Friday night/Saturday and Saturday morning and dawn to very strong and cold winds accompanying a low pressure system centered south of the island of Cyprus. The strong winds caused the uprooting of many tents of the displaced in the Strip, especially with the weak infrastructure of these camps and the lack of adequate means of protection and the exacerbation of the difficult humanitarian conditions in the densely populated camps.

High waves on the coasts of the Gaza Strip led to the sea entering the land

As a result of the active winds, the waves are noticeably disturbed on the coasts of the Strip, where the wave height reached about one and a half to two meters, which led to the sea waves entering the land and coasts, which include a huge number of displaced people’s tents, which may expose the lives of families, especially children and the elderly, to additional health risks.

Expectations indicate that the besieged Gaza Strip will be affected from Monday dawn until Tuesday by a low pressure system that will bring heavy rains and strong winds, which requires the responsible authorities and humanitarian institutions to quickly intervene to support the displaced with heating supplies and appropriate winter blankets.

The media team at the Arab Weather Regional Center monitored several video clips via the X platform showing the tents of the displaced being exposed to strong winds and being flooded.
