The Moroccan Initiative for Science and Thought: Data for the investigation of the crescent of Ramadan in Morocco
Weather of Arabia - Moroccan Initiative for Science and Thought
The investigation of the crescent in the Kingdom of Morocco passes through two phases: the first is arithmetic at the beginning of each Hijri year through the issuance of the “Moroccan Hijri Calendar” booklet, which adopts 10 criteria. Shaaban 1440 AH / May 5, 2019.
And the sun will set in the city of Dakhla at 20:34 according to the approved time ( GMT + 1 ), as the last city in which the sun sets in Morocco, while the moon will set at 21:15, i.e. the crescent will be 40 minutes.
As for the age of the crescent, it will be 20 hours and 48 minutes, its height is 8.9° , its elongation (the arc of light) is 11.27°, its azimuth angle is 282.73° , the illumination rate is 0.84% , and the visibility arc is 9.47° .
When comparing these data with the first criterion adopted mathematically, which was separated by the Moroccan scholar Muhammed bin Abdul Raziq, may God have mercy on him, we find that it is not achieved because the stay is less than 48 minutes, which is the minimum for vision with the naked eye.
The field archive also specifies that the minimum age for the crescent to be seen with the naked eye is 24 hours, which is not achieved in this case.
This case is similar to the investigation of the crescent of Shawwal 1424 AH / 2003 AD and the investigation of the crescent of Shawwal 1422 AH / 2001 AD, as the Kingdom announced in both of them that the sighting of the crescent was not proven.
All the information mentioned makes the vision very difficult, and from it all committees will announce a negative vision, and therefore Tuesday, May 7, 2019 will be the first day of the astronomical month of Ramadan, pending the official announcement of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs.
