Astronomical phenomena in 2024

The second lunar eclipse in 2024 is expected to occur on Wednesday, September 18 , and it will be of the partial type, as it will be visible in the skies of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the Arab world.

This eclipse will witness the reflection of only 8% of the Moon’s disk within the Earth’s shadow at the greatest peak, which will result in clear darkness in the Moon’s disk. The partial eclipse is expected to last for an hour and three minutes, and it will also be visible in large areas of North America, Mexico, Central America, and America. The South Atlantic Ocean, most of Europe and Africa.

As for the second and final solar eclipse in 2024, it is expected to occur on Wednesday, October 2 , and it will be of the annular type not seen in Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

Those living in the Western Hemisphere will witness this eclipse, as the path of the annular eclipse will mainly cross the Pacific Ocean, which limits the view of the eclipse from land to a few locations. It is worth noting that there was a complete solar eclipse on the last night of the holy month of Ramadan, specifically in April 8, 2024, when it was fully visible over the skies of the United States of America, which led to complete darkness in its skies for hours.
