“Musnad”: Explains the length of the lunar month in detail
Weather of Arabia - Dr. Abdullah Al-Misnad, former climate professor at Qassim University and Vice President of the Saudi Weather and Climate Society, explained that the average length of the lunar month is 29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes and two seconds.
“Al-Musnad” indicated that when the moon descends in a certain phase of the moon’s phases, such as the phase of the Pleiades, it reappears in the same phase after about 27.3 days, and this reflects the length of the lunar-sidereal month.
He added that the crescent appears in different shapes, such as the flat shape that resembles the letter Nun, the oblique shape that resembles the letter R, and the upright shape that resembles the letter Alif in Diwani script.
Al-Musnad continued that the shape of the crescent for any month returns to its spatial and temporal position after a period ranging between 30 and 34 years.
