Weather of Arabia - Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah stressed the urgent need to form a united global front to deal with climate crises, calling on the international community to encourage creative environmental initiatives, human innovation and concerted action to reform our planet.

This came during Her Majesty’s participation, through a recorded televised message, in the innovation presentation session for the Earth Shot Award, which was held at the DP World Group’s pavilion at DP World Expo 2020, with the participation of Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, who launched the award in 2020, and in the presence of President The Board of Directors and Group Chief Executive Officer Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem.

As a member of the Board of the World Earthshot Award, Her Majesty warned a group of leading environmental innovators and influential business leaders from the world, "Our common environment is under great pressure as a result of climate crises such as rising temperatures and dwindling water resources, especially in Middle east".

"When it comes to the environment and climate, every region is at risk," Her Majesty said, noting that "human innovation is our most important renewable resource. The fuel we need to save our planet lies in our hands, hearts and minds."

During the activity, 5 innovative ideas were presented by the finalists of the Earthshot Award 2021 in 3 categories: (reviving the oceans, climate reform, and building a world without waste) from the five categories of the award.

Her Majesty pointed to the possibilities and opportunities that will accompany supporting green innovations and the climate, such as the ideas that were presented, such as coral cultivation on land, providing electricity without networks, harnessing and investing the sun, and building cement sea walls. Her Majesty noted a study that included 50 countries representing half of the world's population, which found that about two-thirds of people agree that climate change is an emergency.

In his opening speech, Prince William said: "We have reason to hope, our future is not yet set, and while the task before us is great, we can still fix our planet and build a better world."

He added that Earthshot's mission is more than a prize, it is a global team effort to inspire urgent optimism and game-changing innovation to change our future.

The award was launched by Prince William and the Royal Foundation (The Royal Foundation); With the aim of encouraging and scaling up environmental innovations that can help the world achieve a stable climate, so that communities, oceans and biodiversity thrive by 2030.
