The first air depression that was classified brought good amounts of rain and carried the first snowfalls this season (details)
Arab Weather - The Kingdom, thank God, was affected by the first classified air depression for this winter, and the air depression was accompanied by many weather phenomena, some of which were characterized by severity, and the air depression returned to the Kingdom the cold and rainy winter weather that was long awaited and was absent from the atmosphere throughout the period of the square.
General summary of the effects of the low pressure system on the Kingdom's atmosphere
The effects of the low pressure system on the Kingdom began in the afternoon hours of Wednesday, February 5, when a cold air front crossed the Kingdom, and cold and rainy winter weather prevailed in many northern and central regions, reaching Karak Governorate, while the rest of the southern and eastern regions were far from rain, while the winds were active, stirring up dust and dirt in those regions.
During the night hours, that is, Wednesday/Thursday night, colder winds flowed towards the region, deepening the air depression. The winds intensified with heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms and heavy hail showers in various regions of the Kingdom. The rains extended to wider areas of the south and east of the Kingdom, praise be to God, with the occurrence of water pools.
Thursday 6/2/2025 The Kingdom was very stormy and snow fell for the first time this winter on the northern and southern peaks.
During the hours of Thursday morning and during the peak period of the low pressure system, snow fell for the first time since the beginning of the season on the mountain peaks in the governorates of Ajloun and Jerash, in addition to the southern peaks represented by the heights of Tafilah governorate and the peaks of Sharah west of Ma'an governorate, with snow accumulations of varying thicknesses. During the rest of the day, the rain began to recede, but the winds were stormy in the southern regions.
The weather station recorded, through the official report, a wind speed of about 110 km/h in Ma'an Governorate. Due to the strong winds, dense dust waves and severe sandstorms erupted in the southeastern and eastern regions of the Kingdom, including the desert road, which led to the trapping of many people and the suffocation of others. The strong winds also caused the collapse of a number of high-voltage electricity towers in Ma'an Governorate, and the uprooting of a number of trees in different areas.
The remnants of the very cold air mass affected the Kingdom on Thursday/Friday night, causing renewed snowfall over the peaks of Shara.
During the night hours, the low pressure system moved away from the Kingdom, but the extremely cold air mass continued to affect the atmosphere, as the weather turned extremely cold with rain falling in the north, center, and south of the Kingdom, which was in the form of snow on the high mountain peaks in the southern regions, especially the peaks of Shobak, west of Ma'an Governorate.
