Water Postpones meter reading and collection for a week due to the heat wave affecting the Kingdom

Arab Weather - Deputy Secretary General of the Water Authority, Firas Al-Azzam, confirmed that all technical teams, water departments and companies providing water services in all regions of the Kingdom are working around the clock to deal with the unprecedented heat wave this summer.

Al-Azzam said in a statement today, Sunday, that the Minister of Water asked the concerned departments in the Kingdom, and in order to preserve the safety of staff and field workers in the field of collection (reading and collection), who do not own field cars, to postpone the work of reading and collection for a week according to the competent reference, provided that it returns As soon as the heat wave ends, and taking all necessary precautions to protect workers in the field of maintenance and operation of water and sanitation networks

He stressed that despite the long and severe heat wave, the water supply operations are going well, revealing the high demand for water in the Kingdom.

He noted that the Ministry, its departments and companies have taken all necessary measures and preparations to face this heat and intense wave, and that all sources operate at maximum capacity, appreciating the understanding and cooperation of citizens in the success of sincere national efforts to secure water and sanitation services in all regions.

Al-Azzam stressed that the measures followed and applied by all water departments are capable of securing realistic needs despite the challenges of the rise in demand and its reaching record levels, due to the heat wave and the Corona crisis.
And he called on citizens to preserve the quantities of water that reached them, indicating that the Department of Water Operations and Distribution is working to fulfill the water quotas to ensure the satisfaction of the household and personal needs of the citizens without waste or extravagance.

Al-Azzam also called for the need to follow the instructions applied by all water departments in preserving water resources, especially with regard to waste and water leakage from rooftops, and wrong behaviors for its use.
He appealed to the citizens for the necessity to move away from the wrong behaviors of some citizens and in the various regions, reminding that the instructions for the right of everyone who wastes water are applied according to the provisions of the amendments to the Water Authority Law, which includes accountability for all those wasting water.

He said that the national water security is exposed to great danger if every drop of water is not preserved and used efficiently and effectively, such as water spraying operations during the sharp rise in temperatures on the sidewalks and corridors, which may expose the arrival of water to the neighbors to confusion and irregularity.

Al-Azzam explained that the quantities of water pumped to citizens are intended for personal and household uses and for drinking purposes, as well as the necessity of having ground tanks in buildings and high houses to ensure the arrival of sufficient quantities of water.

And he stressed not resorting to connecting water hours to motors or water pumps directly, because of the harm it causes to other subscribers, and disturbing the supply system, stressing that the water is separated from everyone who connects his meter in this way.

Al-Azzam praised the great public awareness of large segments of citizens in understanding such procedures and the keen awareness and keenness of the Jordanian citizen, and his understanding of the importance of giving priority to everyone's interest over private interests.
