The Middle East and North Africa Climate Week 2023 launches in Saudi Arabia

From this standpoint, Climate Week 2023 will begin in Riyadh on Sunday, October 8, in the Middle East and North Africa region, which is organized in cooperation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. This week will continue until the 27th of Rabi’ al-Awwal, corresponding to the 12th of October .
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s hosting of Climate Week comes as part of its leadership role and strong commitment in confronting the challenges of climate change. This week aims to provide a platform for all concerned parties, with the aim of enhancing cooperation and joint work towards adopting sustainable and integrated climate solutions, to contribute to achieving the common goals agreed upon in the agreement. Key tracks of Climate Week
The 2023 Middle East and North Africa Climate Week includes four main tracks, which seek to enhance cooperation and joint efforts for the region in order to confront the challenges of climate change and contribute to achieving global aspirations to preserve the planet and preserve our sustainable environment.

It focuses on sustaining and improving energy and industrial systems in the region, including promoting the use of renewable energy and increasing energy efficiency in industry.

It focuses on developing cities and communities sustainably, promoting environmentally friendly public transportation, and improving infrastructure to reduce environmental impact.
- Path of land, oceans, food and water
It addresses the topics of conserving land, water and oceans, ensuring food security and promoting sustainable agricultural practices.

Climate Week activities in Saudi Arabia
On the first day of the week's activities, it will include three ministerial sessions and a regional dialogue session on climate change issues.
The second session addresses comprehensive financial and economic diversification with the aim of achieving the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement.
The third session will focus on the efforts being made to adapt the world to a one and a half degree rise in temperatures.
In addition , a roundtable meeting of climate change ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries will be held, as well as a roundtable meeting of climate change ministers of member states of the League of Arab States.
In the coming days of the week , four dialogue tracks will be launched, in a joint effort between the Ministry of Energy in Saudi Arabia, the Secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, and the United Nations Climate Change Pioneers, and the week’s program will also include many climate activities, meetings and exhibitions that address environmental and climate issues. and sustainability, and these events will add cultural and social dimensions to the week’s activities.

Objectives of the Middle East and North Africa Climate Week 2023
This week aims to host discussions on the issues, challenges and opportunities of climate change, and to express collective opinions about them. These discussions come in preparation for their calculation in the global assessment that will take place at the twenty-eighth Conference of States Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) , which will be held in Next November in the United Arab Emirates.
