Types of fog radiation haze
Weather of Arabia - Fog is a natural phenomenon that occurs when the clouds are near or in contact with the surface of the earth, and the fog can be light or dense, and in all cases it leads to a decrease in the extent of horizontal visibility according to its density, and the fog may lead to a complete lack of horizontal visibility when it is very dense .
One of the types of fog is radiation fog
What is radiation fog?
Radiation fog is formed at night and in the early morning hours. It is considered one of the lightest and shortest-lived types of fog, as the Earth’s temperature decreases with radiation, so the warm air rises to the top, so that the air closest to the earth’s surface becomes colder, and in general, the cold air carries less water vapor than the hot air. Thus, water vapor condenses close to the Earth's surface and radiation fog is formed. With the sun shining, which in turn sends its rays to the Earth's surface, the radiation fog disappears.
What are the conditions for radiation haze to form?
- Light winds: For the formation of radioactive fog, winds of light speed are required to allow warm air to move and pass over the cold surface of the earth and touch it to cool.
- High Humidity: The formation of radioactive fog requires a high humidity of up to 100%.
- Clear sky: A clear, cloudless sky is one of the conditions for the formation of radioactive fog, as there is ample time for the air to cool.
How does the radiation haze disappear and fade?
- Sun heating.
- Wind speed increased.
- Heating by descending air.
- Wind direction and gusts have changed from a new source.
