ArabiaWeather.com- After suffering great suffering from the polytheists' torture and persecution of the first Muslims, Muslims were forced to embark on a secret migration to Abyssinia seeking protection from its just king, specifically in the year 615 AD, that is, five years after the prophethood of the Messenger, may God bless him and grant him peace.

The total number of those who migrated to Abyssinia at that time was 14 men and 4 women. They left Mecca secretly without anyone seeing them, until they reached the port of Shuaiba located on the Sea of Crimea (the Red Sea), and some of the Quraysh tried to catch up with them, but two ships of merchants came and carried them to the land of Ethiopia.

The Muslims boarded the ship, after paying each of them half a dinar, from the port of Shuaiba, which is close to the current location of Jeddah, and their journey headed south before stopping at the Sudanese island of Eiri (the island of the winds), with the aim of resting and supplying water.

This island was the first place that provided security for the Muslims, as the inhabitants of that island welcomed these immigrants with hospitality and allowed them to use their property until their departure again.

The immigrants later continued their way to the port of Adulis, which is located to the south of the current city of Massawa, which belongs to Eritrea, and this was the official port of Abyssinia or the Kingdom of Aksum at the time.

The Negus, King of Abyssinia , then received the Companions with many questions, before this message reached him from the Messenger Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace:

“In the name of God, the Compassionate, the Compassionate, from Muhammad, the Messenger of God, to the Negus, the Asham, King of Abyssinia . Peace be upon you, for I praise you the King, the Holy One, the Believer, the Dominant, and I testify that Jesus is the spirit of God and His Word which He cast to Mary the Virgin, the pure, the good, the chaste. Adam was created with His hand and I breathed it, and I invite you to God alone, who has no partner, and loyalty to His obedience, and to follow me and believe in me and in what came to me, for I am the Messenger of God, and I sent to you my cousin Ja’far, and with him a group of Muslims, so if they come to you, accept them and leave arrogance, for I invite you and your soldiers To God Almighty, and I have conveyed and advised, so accept my advice, and peace be upon those who follow guidance.

It is noteworthy that Ashama Al-Najashi was the only one whom the Messenger, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, prayed in absentia when he learned of his death in the year 632 AD.
