وسبق ذلك، تشكل عاصفة رملية في مقدمة الامطار خلال ساعات ما بعد الظهر، بسبب ما يعرف بالتيارات الهوائية الهابطة، وهو نوع من الرياح يتشكل بسبب التبريد الحاصل في السحابة الرعدية اثناء هطول الامطار، فيبرد الهواء ويصبح أثقل وزنا وأعلى كثافة ويندفع مباشرة نحو سطح الأرض فيعمل على اثارة الاتربة والغبار وبالتالي ينخفض مدى الرؤية الافقية بشكل كبير.
وتتأثر المملكة بحالة من عدم الاستقرار الجوي بسبب تواجد لكتلة هوائية باردة فوق الحوض الشرقي للبحر المتوسط مدعومة بتدفق لتيارات رطبة قادمة من الجنوب عبر البحر الأحمر مما أدت الى تكاثر السحب الركامية في جنوب المملكة نهار الاحد.
