Pictures .. A Jordanian Volkswagen is the smallest hotel in the world
ArabiaWeather - This strange hotel was created from an old Volkswagen beetle in the middle of the Jordanian desert, and accommodates only two guests inside.
Mohammed Al-Malahem created the hotel in 2011, taking the car and decorating it with hand-embroidered sheets and pillows to create a private retreat for two, according to CNN.
Al-Malahem said he created the property as a way to show visitors how beautiful the area is.
“This village is my home, I was born here, I grew up here, and I lived here,” he added. “I wanted to start a project that would improve its status and put it on the tourist map, because it really overlooks some of the most beautiful landscapes in the region.”
Located in the desert village of Al Gaya, visitors will find the peaceful backwaters and the 12th-century Citadel of Montreal.
Under the castle are the car, which bears a sign indicating that it is the smallest hotel in the world, and a “lobby” in a nearby cave where al-Malahim serves local drinks and snacks to guests.
There are also a few stalls offering antique jewellery, antiques, and copper coins that travelers can buy as souvenirs.
Al-Malahem told CNN that he and his family would prepare breakfast or lunch for the guests.
When you peek inside the car, you will find a collection of notes and photos left by the guests, and al-Malahim plans to add several Volkswagen Beetles to accommodate more guests at one time.
Volkswagen Beetle hotel rates start at around $56 per night.
The Hotel Eh'häusl in Amberg, Germany currently holds the Guinness World Record as the world's smallest hotel, with a total floor area of just 173 square feet (53 square metres).
