In pictures: stunning natural paintings of algae and salt
ArabiaWeather.com - Photographer Sergey Anashkevich decided to explore the multicolored landscape of a neglected salt field in Crimea, after seeing it from the window of a train.
Photographer Sergey Anashkevich says, "The air there is very humid and salty, and because of (the presence of) salt in the air, you get the feeling that the air is sticky."
Among the common types of salt is sodium chloride, which is a useful raw material. Several materials can be extracted from sodium chloride, such as chlorine, hydrogen, and sodium hydroxide. During the era of the Soviet Union, the field was used to produce brine that was used in chemical industries. The brine is formed as a result of the interaction of ground water with rock salts.
