This is Khao Yai National Park, the most famous in Thailand
Arabiaweather.com - Ismail Ghasmi - Khao Yai is Thailand's first and most famous national park, a sprawling park that covers an area of more than 2,100 square kilometres, spanning four provinces.
It is also the most diverse where everything is available, mountains, dense forests, exotic wild animals, waterfalls, lakes and more.
The small town of Pak Chong is the gateway to the famous Khao Yai National Park and its mountainous region, 200 km from Bangkok. Both Pak Chong and Khao Yai National Park are easily accessible from the capital, and the park sits right in what can be considered Thailand's natural glory.
Wildlife in Khao Yai is the main attraction for many tourists. There is a wide range of creatures that make the park their home, such as elephants, monkeys, Asian black bears, sun bears, tigers, king cobras, snakes and a variety of birds, so you should join the safari trips that are arranged by park staff.
And your trip to Khao Yai cannot be complete without a visit to one of the many waterfalls on its territory, and the Haiu Narok waterfall is the most distinguished option because it is the highest in the park and is also a promising spot for elephant watching. The other thing that distinguished the waterfall is that it was included in the scenes of the movie "The Beach" starring Leonardo DiCaprio.
Must-know tips
- In order to protect and preserve the place, the park administration limits the number of visitors who can enter the park grounds each day, and this means that you must book your visit in advance through a tour company.
- The park receives a large number of Thais and foreigners, so it is best to avoid visiting on weekends or public holidays, when the park is most crowded.
Buses depart from Pak Chong and also from Bangkok National Park. If you are traveling by private car from the capital, Bangkok, you will turn to the right before reaching Pak Chong via the highway, and you can follow the signs if you are a driver.
Beware of the "cheap" prices for tours offered by taxis from the park entrance, they are often only one-way, so it is recommended that you rely on tour operators in Pak Chong, Saraburi and Nakhon Ratchasima.
