Video: American researchers develop solar cells that produce 5 times more energy than the current one

ArabiaWeather.com – US researchers have developed a new type of hybrid solar cell that is capable of producing 5 times more energy than the ones currently used, due to the ability of the new cells to harness the lost light and heat of the sun and convert it into electrical energy.

Thanks to the merging of photovoltaic cells with conductive polymer films that get hotter when illuminated, i.e. sunlight, the thermoelectric film and the thermal device inside the conductive polymer films convert that heat into electrical energy that is stored.

The researchers at the American Chemical Society explained that these new hybrid solar cells convert the lost sunlight and heat into electrical energy with 20% more efficiency than the currently available counterparts.
