video | In conjunction with heavy rains and floods... monitoring and documenting a water tower formed off the coast of Greece
Weather of Arabia - Sinan Khalaf - A number of users of the social networking site (x) shared that a giant water tower has formed off the coast of Greece this afternoon, Tuesday 9/5/2023 AD, coinciding with Greece being affected by severe weather disturbances accompanied by heavy rains and floods.
Today, many Greek regions were subjected to unprecedented rainfall, which local residents described as torrential rains, floods, and landslides in several areas.
The reason for the formation of a water tower
A water tower is a natural phenomenon that often occurs when cold air passes over warm water. The warm, humid air rises and water vapor condenses as the air column rises. With the presence of horizontal shear winds, a rotational movement of air occurs, and a rotating funnel appears in the form of a vertical cloud mass above the surface of the water.
The formation of a water tower requires high levels of humidity and a relatively warm water temperature compared to the air above it. More details here .
