Video: A strong earthquake hits the border area between China and Kyrgyzstan
Arabia Weather - On Tuesday, a 7-magnitude earthquake struck the areas along the border between China and Kyrgyzstan, according to a report by the American Institute of Geophysics, and the report indicates the possibility of widespread damage as a result of this earthquake.
Television channels in the Indian capital, New Delhi, reported strong earthquakes in the city, which is located about 1,400 kilometers from the epicenter.
The earthquake was recorded at around 2:00 local time (18:00 GMT Monday) , at a depth of 27 kilometers, specifically in the Xinjiang region of China, and about 140 kilometers west of the city of Aksu.
A short time later, three additional earthquakes were recorded in the area, measuring 5.5, 5.1, and 5 degrees, respectively. Although there were no immediate reports of casualties in the mountainous and rural area affected by the earthquake, the American Institute of Geophysics expressed the possibility of human casualties.
In its report, the institute indicated that the damage could be severe, with a large-scale disaster expected. The earthquake reportedly affected residents of areas in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan, and no injuries or damage were immediately reported in these two countries located in Central Asia.
