Video: Scary footage of floods that caused the evacuation of 100,000 people in Japan
ArabiaWeather.com- The Japanese authorities evacuated about 100,000 people from their homes on Thursday, after rare torrential rains left at least two people missing and many others trapped when rivers burst their banks. Pre-dawn warnings of unexpected heavy rain, according to Reuters news agency.
Television broadcast images of helicopters picking up people from rooftops, while an elderly couple sat on a rooftop holding two dogs.
This video shows part of the destruction that befell large areas of Japan due to the unprecedented floods that the country witnessed as a result of the continuing torrential rains, which resulted in the destruction of many homes and the evacuation of hundreds of thousands of residents from their homes.
Some areas saw twice as much rain as normal in September in the 48 hours after Tropical Storm Itau swept across the central part of Japan's main island, Honshu.
